Cheadle Lantern Parade & Workshops – October 2026
Part of Cheadle Arts Festival & supported by OUTSIDE
Join us for the third annual Cheadle Lantern Parade, bringing a glowing evening of lanterns, music and community spirit to the streets of Cheadle.
This year, the parade will be led by Brazen Brass Band, an incredible all-female brass band bringing joyful tunes, big brass sounds and plenty of energy to the streets.
Lantern collection: From 6pm
Parade starts: 6:30pm

Starting point: Wellspring Methodist Church, Cheadle
There will also be a series of free lantern-making workshops in Cheadle and Tean throughout September and October, where you can make your lantern ready for the parade.
Free Lantern Making Workshops
All workshops are free, open to everyone and drop-in – no booking required. All materials are provided.

All ages welcome – materials provided – no booking required.
Access
Parade: The parade will take place outdoors at a steady pace through Cheadle Town Centre. There may be uneven paths.
Workshops: The Wellspring is fully accessible in terms of access and facilities. There is no parking at The Wellspring, but the Tape Street car park is directly opposite. Find information about Tape Street car park on the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council website.
Great Wood Community Hall is fully accessible in terms of access and facilities. Accessible parking for blue badge holders is available at the hall.

Throughout October, artist Richard Redwin will be delivering free lantern-making activities, culminating in a wonderful lantern parade on Saturday 24th October. We’d love your help to support the workshops, steward the parade and help ensure everyone has a magical time.
