Soldiers In A Line

Czerwone Maki (Red Poppies)

Trestle Market, Leek - 7th May 2025, 7pm.

A Soldier Alone

A Forgotten Battle. A Life-Changing Love. A Polish WWII Story You’ve Never Seen Before.

As part of the VE Day celebrations join us for a special screening of “Czerwone Maki” – “Red Poppies” hosted by OUTSIDE and the Leek Polish Connection, the community who grew up at the Polish Resettlement Camp at Blackshaw Moor after WWII.

Step into the chaos and courage of the Battle of Monte Cassino in this powerful new Polish war drama (with subtitles).

Meet Jedrek — an orphan who escaped a Soviet gulag and joins the Polish II Corps fighting alongside the Allies. Then comes Pola, a brave frontline nurse who changes everything. As bombs fall and the battle rages, their connection deepens — and so does the fight for survival, identity, and something bigger than both of them.

It’s more than a war film — it’s a raw, emotional ride through one of WWII’s most crucial (and often overlooked) chapters, closely tied to local history.

Age Rating – 12+ | Running Time – 2 Hours
