Growing Connections : Biddulph Library – Feb 2024

Get connected to nature

February half term activities

Biddulph Library, 10th, 15th, 16th February 2024

We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Moorlands Libraries to deliver ‘Growing Connections’. Join us at Biddulph Library over February half term for a series of activities to connect us to nature.

Saturday 10th February, 12noon – 4pm: Giant Marble Run with Wild Rumpus. Free family fun, all ages (under 12s need to be accompanied by an adult). Drop in.

Thursday 15th February, 2pm – 5pm: Wild Singing with Eleanor Hooper from Pif Paf Theatre and cellist Liz Hanks. There will be gentle breathing exercises and an invitation to immerse your senses in the atmosphere of the garden as we guide you in some deep listening practices. Participants will then be invited to relax and share their impressions and connection with the garden, which we will build into a playful spoken word and rhythm improvisation leading into creative vocal warm ups and simple singing improvisations. Following on from this we will teach a song with two or three part harmonies using simple call and response. We will end the session with a chance to chat over some tea.

Suitable for adults, interested teens, and babes in arms. Wrap up warm with waterproof footwear as we’ll be exploring the community garden for inspiration!

Free, but limited spaces, please book in advance by calling Biddulph Library on 0300 111 8000 or emailing biddulph.library@staffordshire.gov.uk

Friday 16th February, 10am – 4pm: Land Art with James Brunt. Come and drop in on land artist James Brunt and help him create a transient landscape-responsive art piece in the community garden. Suitable for all ages (under 12s need to be accompanied by an adult), free, drop in, wrap up warm.

Friday 16th February, 1pm – 3pm: Growing Connections Celebration. Everyone is welcome to come and visit the community garden and help the Library Team to plan for future projects. Live poetry readings from Jean Atkins and Gabriella Gay.

Culture Nature is a project developed by Natural England in partnership with Libraries Connected to support libraries to deliver projects which help communities build their connection with nature, how they think about, feel about, and experience nature.
