Hare's Head Guided Walk

Flash Village Hall - 29th April 2025, 5:30am & 5pm

A Hare In A Field

Where are we going? To find a Hare! This guided walk encourages the use of technology to record our journey across the moorlands surrounding the highest village in the UK, Flash.

Date: Tuesday 29 April 2025

Meeting and end point: Flash Village Hall, Brown Lane, Buxton, SK17 0SW. What3Words///canyons.teardrop.pausing

Dawn walk start time: 5.30am

Cost – £5

Dusk walk start time: 5pm

Cost – £5

Walk length: approx. 6.5km (4 miles)

Walk pace: slow and steady with plenty of time for pausing to notice the landscape, flora, fauna and fungi as we pass through.

Joining information: this walk will take a maximum of 3 hours for able walkers and follows a less trod route across a mixture of paved and earth tracks and trails. The walk is steep and adventurous in places with up and down hill throughout. Our route is likely to be boggy and wet so sensible footwear is a must.

This walk is suitable for anyone who enjoys using technology to record the natural world. If you are a Strava user you’ll want to bring your gadgets and gizmos. No drones. Please leave dogs at home. We are hoping for sightings of the elusive and easily startled Hare.

This walk is suitable for people who enjoy exploring, aged 7 upwards.

Arrive ready to walk 15 minutes before we leave.

Toilets: there are toilets in the village hall. No toilets are available on the route.

Refreshments: at the end of each walk the village hall will be open for a warm drink.
