Longnor Open – Nov 2024-Jun 2025
Tackling rural isolation and loneliness in Longnor

Longnor, November 2024 - June 2025

OUTSIDE has partnered with Longnor Action Group (a local community group) and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to develop a creative project and programme which aims to tackle rural isolation and loneliness in Longnor.
The project brings on board as many of the residents and members of the community, to work together as a whole village to deliver a creative programme and structure that supports those who feel lonely and to help prevent loneliness.
The project will be weaved into village life, through its transport links, street furniture, local amenities such as shops and cafes, and the village calendar of events. It will include inspirational visits to other places, creative workshops, local walks, garden parties and gardening sessions.
The project kicked off in November 2024 with local ceramist Sue Blatherwick joining the Christmas Fair at St Bartholomew’s CoE Primary School, inviting visitors to start to think creatively about welcome signs for the village. It continued in February and March 2025 with creative workshops and local days out to places including Buxton Crescent and Dimmingsdale.
The project culminates at Longnor Open Gardens on 15th June 2025, 10am-4pm, with some live performances and art installations, in addition to the 16 wonderful gardens open for viewing. See the programme below. Tickets £3, under 16s free, available from St Bartholomew’s Church on the day, no booking required.
If you would like to register an interest in being involved with the project, please contact hello@outsidearts.org
