Swifts in schools : Wild Week – 19-24 June
Raising awareness of endangered wildlife
MCA’s Youth Action team and the OUTSIDE project are collaborating on workshops for local schools as part of this year’s Moorlands Wild Week programme.
For more information or if you would like to help lead sessions, contact youth@moorlandsclimateaction.org.uk
This nature-based week helps to raise awareness of our endangered Moorland wildlife and habitats to children in a fun and accessible way.
The creative workshops with OUTSIDE will focus on swifts. The children will make and fly their own ‘swift’ kites with workshops by Paul and Helene from ‘Sky Bums’ or create their own paper ‘swift’ bunting, and at the same time learn about and appreciate the journey swifts take.
The swifts workshops are part of a selection of sessions running at five local schools. Other workshops, part funded by the National Lottery fund and MCA will focus on bees and pollinators, hedgehogs, curlews, and outdoor habitats.
Moorlands Wild Week, organised by Moorlands Climate Action, takes place from 19th to 23rd June.
