Waymaking For Kids: with Greenwood Growth – Dec

Origami Outdoors

Horton St. Michael's First School - 22nd, 23rd, 28th & 29th December, 9am-1pm

An Outdoor Campfire

In December we got to know how to use the woods responsibly with Greenwood Growth for fun, exercise and creativity!

If you took part, you were welcomed to the woods by a practitioner, Ros, Bee, Louise or Michelle, who showed you where everything you need was, including cosy spaces, toilets and food.

When everyone arrived we introduced the session including all safety information and activities. We then cooked a hot and healthy brunch (late breakfast and early lunch) over the fire, enjoying sharing food together.

When it was time to get ready for home we tidied the woods, collect our belongings before greeting your parent/carer.

What were the session aims?:

  • Understand the woods in winter. Getting to know how to use them responsibly for fun, exercise and creativity.
  • Learn how to use fire to cook healthy food, prepared in the forest.
  • Work with an artist and practitioners to build cosy spaces in the woods for play, rest and nature observation.
