Wellspring Community Cinema – Jul-Aug 2024
Films in Cheadle this summer
Creating a community cinema for Cheadle
Wellspring in Cheadle, July & August 2024
Wellspring in Cheadle is becoming a community cinema over the summer with the support of Film Hub Midlands and OUTSIDE.
Showing three films over July and August, we are interested in finding out if people would like to see more films come to Cheadle and if so, what kind of films people are interested in watching. We are also interested in finding out if there are people who would like to run a ‘film club’ – managing a box office and organising the showing of the films more generally.
The first film is CARS (2006, film rating PG) and it is showing on Friday 26th July with wraparound car themed craft activities from 10am, the film will start at 10.30am.
After the race at the Piston Cup Championship ends in a three-way tie-breaker, a rookie Lightning McQueen is desperate to make it to the winning position and take over the veteran Strip Weathers.
The second film is THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN (2021, age rating 12) Thursday 8th August 2pm-5pm.
Maurice Flitcroft, a dreamer and unrelenting optimist, manages to gain entry to the 1976 British Open Golf Championship qualification round despite being a complete novice.
And the third film is THE IRON CLAW (2023, age rating 15) Friday 23rd August 7pm-10pm.
The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s.
All three films will be shown at Wellspring Methodist Church on Chapel Street, Cheadle, opposite the entrance to the car park, next to Elite Kitchens & Bathrooms.
The film screenings are free and there is no need to book.
There is no parking at Wellspring but there is a car park opposite (Tape Street – Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for hours and charges).
