Family Trees On A Wall

Around the Moorlands, April - July 2025

A Woman Creating A Family Tree

We’re pleased to announce a new project for the Moorlands, The Women’s Line. Working with Maccreate and women involved in farming in the Moorlands, we’ll be creating a community art installation of family trees showing their female lines through portraits and memories.

There were six workshops every Wednesday from 30th April – 4th June, 7-9pm at Onecote Village Hall.

The collective artwork was then in St John the Baptist Church in Elkstones, 13th/14th/15th June, 10.30am-5pm as part of the Flower Festival (donations welcome for tea and cake).

The project is open to women with a farming background or currently involved in farming. You don’t need to be artistic, just know about your female ancestors and keen to connect with your heritage. Workshop places are limited so if you’re interested, please contact Tyra on 07976 236457 / tyra@tyratill.com or Myrtle on 01538 30422 to put your name on the list and tell them how long your family have farmed in the Staffordshire Moorlands (NOW CLOSED.)

We’re excited to see the trees and celebrate the heritage of female family members of some of our farming families.
