Pride in the Moorlands : Access Information
At Pride in the Moorlands, we’re committed to making our event as inclusive and accessible as possible.
LEEK Sunday 28th June
Activity will take place in and around Leek market place, this area has cobbled streets and uneven paving, which may be more challenging for some people to navigate. We advise attendees using mobility aids, or who are unsteady on their feet, to take extra care when travelling to and from the venue.
Leek Indoor Butter and Trestle Market, which is fully accessible throughout for attendees who use wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walking aids or any other access requirements.
There will be volunteer stewards positioned throughout the event who will be happy to assist with directions, provide support navigating the space, or help to identify safer routes.
We will also:
- Provide seating throughout the venue for anyone who may need to rest.
- Highlight any recommended accessible routes or parking areas.
There are 4 designated disabled parking spaces on Silk Street car park, however, all spaces are accessible as this is very close to the rear entrance of the Trestle Market. Alternative parking is available.
Toilet Facilities:
LEEK Sunday 28th June – There are public toilet facilities located on Silk Street, which is 40 yards away from the Indoor Trestle Market. These include disabled toilet facilities. These will be open for the entirety of the event.
- The terrain here is paved, however, this route requires attendees to access through the car park.
- Volunteer stewards will be stationed nearby to guide and assist anyone who needs help finding or accessing these facilities.
Sensory Needs:
LEEK Sunday 28th June – Pride in the Moorlands will be a lively celebration, and music will be playing throughout the day in and around the Leek Indoor Trestle Market. We recognise that loud environments can be overstimulating, particularly for neurodivergent people.
If you feel like this will affect you, we encourage you to bring your own noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs. We will also have a supply of single-use earplugs available, which can be requested from any of our volunteer stewards, who will be happy to help.
All attendees are also welcome to take time to rest in our designated quiet space located inside the at the Foxlowe Arts Centre, which will offer a calm, low-sensory environment.
There is no expectation for you to dress up however Pride in the Moorlands is an inclusive event and we welcome all self-expression.
If you have any enquires about access needs, feel free to contact us at hello@outsidearts.org we take a flexible approach to access and are happy to talk about how we can support you to get the most out of the event.
We want everyone to enjoy Pride in the Moorlands in a way that works for them.
